Hello, I’m Bird. Occasionally known as Diane, the picture painter.

Why greeting cards? It’s a tricky business selling original artwork, having enough time to paint for Art exhibitions and wait for a sale. I had to make my Art affordable. I tested the water at a few country shows and fairs and took the leap in 2008 exhibiting at The Spring Fair. A few years on, many paintings, lots of shows, packing thousands of cards and a collection of lovely loyal stockists, I’m still here. My children have grown up surrounded by paint and glue, piled into a car full to bursting ready for the next show. Now officially classed as adults, I really miss their company on the trade stand. But my daughter has become a fully qualified Graphic designer, how handy is that! My family are a bunch of stars, couldn’t do it without them.

Painting time is incredibly precious, sitting at my drawing board, pots of brushes, tubes of paint next to piles of used mixing plates, one for each painting. I haven’t got a clue how to use a digital program for my work, I draw and paint everything by hand. I’m a stationery hoarder, love a pencil and untouched bound notebook!

All my cards are printed just eight miles from my studio, great family business, nice office dog! It’s perfect, I can sit in, test colours, papers and proof every run.

I live in the Shropshire hills with a few animals and enjoy a spot of gardening.
